Bubba’s Fund

For Charlie. For Children.

Bubba’s Fund is a charitable foundation created in loving memory of
Charlie Weber Lonning — affectionately called “Bubba” by those who knew and cherished him.

Through our partnership with the La Crosse Area Community Foundation, we are committed to turning unimaginable loss into a powerful legacy of life-saving tools, joyful play, and lasting impact for children.

The La Crosse Area Community Foundation is the home to Bubba’s Fund Donor Advised Fund. The partnership will allow for immediate pursuit of our mission to improving the safety, opportunity, and wellbeing of children.

The efforts will focus on La Crosse, Wisconsin with hopes of expanding over time. Our project based approach will begin with a specific and urgent focus: providing AEDs (automated external defibrillators) to licensed child care facilities in the city of La Crosse, Wisconsin.

Projects & Impacts

The focus of our fundraising and partnership efforts will first be on AED installation at all Wisconsin State Licensed Childcare Facilities in the city of
La Crosse, Wisconsin.

The path forward will benefit the lives of children and those that support children.

  • Every minute counts. We're placing AEDs in local daycare centers and early childhood spaces, starting with the most underserved. Lives are already safer because of Charlie.

  • We will strides to ensure that all Wisconsin state licensed childcare staff are adequately trained in AED administration.

  • PulsePoint Respond is a 911-connected app that alerts CPR-trained citizens of cardiac arrest events nearby and directs them to AEDs.

  • Youth deserve the opportunity to participate in athletic programs and camps. This effort will grant access to these programs to those who need it most.

  • The development of specific programs and resources may be compiled and easily accessible to families that experience sudden loss of a child.
